Maybe once per year, but to avoid it I try to exercise regularly and eat balanced. When I feel about to get sick I always drink hot lemon juice with kion before go to bed.

Moreover I usually chew and swallow the kion. It lasts two or three days to do effect. I really don't often get cough that you had it was a bit annoying.

Therefore, I always keep warming my body, even my hands and my ears. Remember that don't drink ice cold too much. This is one of reasons it makes you being sore throat.

Moreover, you should do exercise everyday that it is essential to keep your health stronger. I usually get cough, when I take more cold drinks.

During winter , cough really hurts me so I prefer antibiotics. When I was youth, I usually got cough and cold on account of changing season.

I was honestly astonished by the work that must have gone into writing this book. Also, the readability factor was through the roof.

Meyer has that gift. Another element I definitely appreciated was the pacing. This is not a short book. My copy was pages long.

And never in over six hundred pages did the story drag. The pace was steady and engaging through the entirety of the story, which is incredibly rare.

Even better, in my opinion, is the fact that this book stands completely alone! Standalone novels are unfortunately few and far between these days, so I latch on when I find one, especially when it turns out to be a great book.

Finally, I just have to applaud this novel for its cleanliness. For a book in this genre, there was remarkably little profanity or descriptive sexual encounters.

Remember when I said that my grandmother recommended this book to me? The Chemist is a fast-paced thriller full of intelligent characters who are easy to care about.

Sometimes, the brain can be your deadliest weapon. I have nothing negative to say about this book, and I hope more people will give it a chance.

I have been reading this audiobook for WEEKS and made it two hours in, and that was only FIFTY SIX PAGES?

It felt like about Of nothing happening. I was excited about this book. I loved Stephanie Meyer's adult sci-fi The Host and was eager to see her write another adult novel but this was just boring.

It was 56 years pages of infodump on how this character hides her identity and Attempted in April It was 56 years pages of infodump on how this character hides her identity and takes so many precautions to not be found, but I don't know who she is, who's trying to find her, or why anyone needs to find her.

The story hasn't even started yet at where I'm leaving off. It's rare for me to DNF an audiobook because they are so easy to just let play, but this certainly doesn't work in audiobook format.

The story is already dull, and the narration was pretty monotonous and lifeless. I had no reason to care about this character or her story, so I'm moving on to things I'm more in the mood for.

I thought the subject matter was fascinating and characters like Kevin and Val were so interesting. Though I didn't love this as much as I loved The Host , it was so much better than the mess that was Breaking Dawn.

The only thing I didn't To all the people who are bashing this simply on the basis that "it's Stephenie Meyer" and "Twilight-vomit-OMG" my sentimate to you is this: But anyway, to this book - I enjoyed it, though I do have to say this was not a typical genre that I would gravitate to.

The only thing I didn't like was view spoiler [how the insta-love between Alex and Daniel was handled. I would have rather this been a slow simmer rather than a quick burn.

PRE-READING THOUGHTS: A new Stephenie Meyer!!!!!!!! A new Stephenie Meyer!!!!!!!! Meyer's personal tribute comes through perfectly in The Chemist.

It is impossible to not notice the blatant similarities of this female version of the death-avoiding, dangerously skilled antihero.

Recruited as a young adult and trained to focus on nothing but the assigned mission As such, this "adult" book resembles Ms.

Meyer's YA fiction in that it features new experiences for the heroine which results in instalove, characters who go googly eyes over kissing and hand-holding, and references to intimacy that fades-to-black.

I have mad respect for Ms. Meyer's choice to try her hand at a new genre and was desperately excited to see this new release available.

Meyer's storytelling in Twilight is what made me first take notice of how engaging leisure reading could be.

It was life-changing for me So, I did experience some disappointment while reading The Chemist to see that her writing style appears to have changed significantly in my perspective.

One of the noticeable changes is that The Chemist is written in third-person versus her historically successful first-person narrative, and her overall storytelling, while fast-paced and engaging, created seventeen hours audio of observing and not experiencing for me anyway.

There are several well-loved authors who are wildly successful with similar styles but Ms. Meyer's writing has always sucked me in and let me live a different life for a while.

I was gravely disappointed by this element; however, I am equally enamored by having another female lead in the thriller genre.

So 3 stars it is. Most people will read this book out of curiosity and I won't deter you. Check it out! I'm sure there will be many who will absolutely love it.

My favorite quote: "Laugh about it or cry about it, that's the only choice. I'd rather laugh while I can. The blurb is lackluster. The forbidden love element terrifies the shit out of me.

We shall see. View all 12 comments. I was really apprehensive about reading this book because of the mixed reviews but I was absolutely intrigued from the first page!

I would recommend those who were worried like I was to read it. View 2 comments. What a bore! I was so excited to read this because I'm a huge Twilight fan, but it was so boring and flat.

Few characters and not so great story. I kind of just kept reading along for a disappointing ending.

It was well written though with impeccable details, so I'm still giving it 3 stars. Just not for me I can't begin to tell you how many drafts of this review I've gone through.

Okay I can. It's three. Seriously though I've been having real problems evaluating this one in an honest way. I was doing my best to land the whole "sarcastic book snob" routine but I couldn't stick it.

Finally I figured out why. The problem isn't that this book is pointless and vapid and plotless and filled with characters made of cardboard that's been left out in the rain so now its colorless, bland and soggy and tears a I can't begin to tell you how many drafts of this review I've gone through.

The problem isn't that this book is pointless and vapid and plotless and filled with characters made of cardboard that's been left out in the rain so now its colorless, bland and soggy and tears apart when you so much as look at it, its that it exists at all.

This books biggest problem is that it was written and by extension published though I suppose if it had never been written it would never have been published.

At any rate its all Twilight 's fault. But really isn't everything? This is a coma inducing "spy thriller" where we are introduced to the sociopathic Alex not her real name because SPYS!!!!!

Also she enjoys the shit out of it. Hence she's a sociopath. And since Stephanie Meyer wrote this Alex, who is now on the run from super secret scary, Illuminati ruled inner sanctums of branches of the government that are so very super secret your average citizen doesn't even know they exist, falls in love with the next "mark" she tortures the shit out of.

And he, because Stephanie Meyer wrote this, falls in love with her right back. Because who cares if she's a sociopath, she's really, really super pretty and he can see into her inner soul to the beautiful, desperately lonely little girl who just needs a man to take care of her - And I just threw up To make things extra tremendously dumb, and because Stephanie Meyer wrote this, tortured guy has a TWIN brother.

Totally for serious. A twin brother. Who of course is a CIA operative. Because Stephanie Meyer wrote this.

Oh also the sociopath and tortured guy can't be together because Stephanie Meyer wrote this. Also because Stephanie Meyer wrote this her "research" on all these organizations seems to have been limited to scan reading a single Tom Clancy novel and watching a lot of NCIS so if for some reason you're reading this to understand how these elite branches of the intelligence community actually operate I'm going to suggest a.

The entire story and I realize the use of that word suggests there is in fact a story which there is not so I apologize for misleading you is "get away from the bad guys.

Or maybe we do. I gotta be honest I wasn't really paying attention. Also Stephanie Meyer really grows as a writer and has her characters have G-rated sex out of wedlock.

I know, I know, I know I was amazed too. Calm down perverts. But as I pointed out initially my real issue is that this book was ever written in the first place.

I find myself getting absurdly angry that someone like Stephanie Meyer, a hack who's success is due ENTIRELY to blind luck and the savviest team of publicists, editors and agents since William Hung got a record deal, can just go "hey I wanna write a spy novel!

Its just not supposed to work like that. Or I don't want it to work like that. Yes, I know everyone in the publishing world is in it for the money.

You don't get into this business purely because you're desperate to connect people with great literature and you wanna discover the next Fitzgerald.

You do it because you wanna get rich on the next Twilight. But shouldn't it be about putting something really great and brilliant and life changing into peoples hands at least a little bit?

Do we have to keep pretending that people like this woman are actually contributing something to the cultural lexicon?

When aliens on an interplanetary archaeological expedition a million years from now thaw out one of our libraries do we want them to form their opinion on us entirely based on how many copies of these books they are doubtless going to come across?

I am begging you. If you want to read a spy thriller go grab The Hunt for Red October or Gorky Park or From Russia With Love. This is not a spy thriller.

This is Twilight fan fiction where everyone is spies. What are the odds that this turns out to be as drab as it looks?

Minimalism worked well with Twilight but to whoever designed that cover: seriously, what were you thinking??? That aside— Stephenie, for all that is holy, this better not be a big, fat romance parading as a female Jason Bourne novel.

Pretty please. With Edward sparkles and glitter on top? View all 3 comments. Loved this book! I know there has been quite a few negative reviews for this novel by Stephenie Meyer, but I really enjoyed it.

I do tend to take each book I read, in it's own individual right, not necessarily by the author. I'm a big Jason Bourne fan and found the likeness between the main character of this novel Alex one of her many cover identities and Bourne, fun and exciting.

It kept me engaged and wanting more when it ended. I think the whole chemical torture idea made for something inte Loved this book!

I think the whole chemical torture idea made for something interesting and different too. I look forward to Stephenie Meyer's next novel!
